The Gray = The Insanity

I got my first gray hair when I was 18 – thank you genetics. I didn’t start seeing those buggers consistently until age 30; by 33 I was one with my ‘gray pulling tweezers’. Now, a few years later I have fallen prey to coloring it – booo. These days I spend 2+ hrs in the salon and $$$ on my hair cut and color – double boo! When I see cancer patients going through chemo, I realize I’m lucky to have hair. That said, I really really really hate my gray hairs. They are crazy; in fact they are completely insane. They grow faster than the rest, most grow straight out while others curl into the shape of some foreign object. This post is not at all intellectual but rather it’s simply about admitting the fact that my gray hairs make me insane. Am I alone?

  1. I am with you! I started going gray about 18 too. They drive me crazy and I usually wait entirely too long in between colorings. The other day, hubby told me I better pick some up ASAP because my grays were out of control. lol

  6. I just coloured my hair again yesterday! You are so not alone! I guess at 46 grey hairs are to be expected, but when they started coming in at 20, that was just too much! Thanks for following me, I'm following you too.

  8. I don't know if I have grey...I color too much. But, in the interest of all things mom and no shame, I will offer full disclosure: I just found (drum roll, please), a GREY EYEBROW.

Sigh. You are most def. not alone.

  11. I hate my gray strands here and there too, but thank goodness we have hair dyes we can use. Not so long ago this wasn't possible and the women back then had to just suck it up and bear it. Can you imagine that?! Makes you have a whole new respect for pioneer women doesn't it. Thanks for visiting and following my blog and I'm here to return the follow. Your little girl is sooooo beautiful, honestly. Enjoy the week!

  12. NOPE!!! You're not alone AT ALL!! I am battling the same fight and for whatever reason the grays are the only ones I see. In addition to that, the beautiful full head of hair that I collected over the course of my pregnancy is going. I'm shedding more than my dogs combined. Anyways, just wanted to let you know that you have an award waiting for you. Check out my blog at:

  13. Following you from MBC, here. I am totally with you on the gray. I found my first gray hair at 26 and nearly screamed with horror! Now, at 40, it seems as if my hair wants to become this awful salt and pepper color. I am too darn young to be that old! So I color it (badly) my chosen color: blond.

  15. Ah the gray hair! I got my first one afew years ago. I always get one in my eye brow. Just one! Ugh! The thing about gray hair is that it is thicker and stronger than our regular hair. I have never colored my hair, so when that day of lots of full gray hair comes in I will cry too! Have a great day!

  16. I was always highlighting my hair blond, since I was blond as a child. I didn't want the chemicals from the highlights while I was pregnant, so I left it all grow out. My aunt actually thought I had highlighted my hair and it was a few grays! Grays drive me crazy, but I finally realized that coloring my hair isn't fun either...so I'm sticking with the natural look. :)

  17. Thank you for following... I'm following you too.
As for the gray hairs - I started around 25 with a gray here and there. Now I have a lot that like to hang out right up front where I part my hair. There is no hiding it, so I have been coloring for quite a few years.
