E-Harmony for Moms & Kids

Don’t you think we should all get together and start an e-harmony for Moms/Kids?

There are multiple reasons I think this is a good idea: 1) It would eliminate the challenges of trying to find like minded Moms 2) It would eliminate the problems with finding appropriate kiddos for your kiddos to play with. 3) Assuming we start up the business, it could be a really good business opportunity for us SAHMs. We could build in a babysitter and pediatrician matching module into the software and soooo much more! Seriously, the possibilities are endless.

Okay, so if any of you have talents in starting up an on-line Mom/Child matching software business, let me know. Also if you have any clever names for our business, do share!

Thoughts on the idea?

  1. I think thats a great idea...
all the names I came up with for this business made it sound like the mom's were looking for other mom's to DATE! Ha
I'm just not clever with the names, but can't wait to see what others come up with!

    GOOD IDEA :)

  4. Great idea, TV! I love it and will support you any way I can :) Talents in software design I don't have but know some friends who might be able to help :) As for name, how about Sprinkles of Sweet Conversation? I love hanging out with like-minded moms for the sweet conversations we'll have over coffee, sprinkled with talking to our kids too!

  5. That is so cool TV! Lately I am thinking that would be a really great idea. Hmmmm, let me think of a great name for your new idea! Hey, I would love to ask you to go visit a Nestwork blogger who should get lots of bloglove comments on a post she wrote today for Cherished Moments Monday. It made me cry because it was so close to my heart. I want to sedn some of my blog friends to visit her and give her some blog smiles. The link is at the bottom of my Cherished Moments post. You are always so sweet TV and I know it would be really nice. Thank you.

  6. I never thought of it that way! Hmmm... I'll try to think of a name. I could come up with something! On another note, I finally featured the "Foxy Mama" award on my site & gave it away to some others today, along with some desserts you may like to try. Thanks again!

  7. So...I'm not that familiar with eharmony. How would it work..?

  8. HeartBabyHome, it would match Moms with other Moms to spend time with based on compatibility much like 'e-dating sites'. It's more funny than real....

  9. What a great idea! When my kids were little it always ended up that the mothers I liked had children who my kids detested, or if the kids had playmates their mothers and I didn't have anything in common.

cha-ching! Who wants to be a millionaire?! This idea could really take off.

e-playdates.com - you read about it here first folks.

  10. How about the name The Right Connection? You can add it to the Nestwork and see how your business will take off. Have a great day my friend!

  11. It's perfect. Finding good play dates is so much like courting a husband, why not a service?

  12. This is a great idea! So much of finding mommy groups or friends with kids is a lot like dating LOL. It takes a lot of work and sometimes they turn out to be busts, this would help make things so much easier! You should totally do this, I have no idea how you would start it but I know I would use it!

  13. Looks like your idea of a joke really took root as a viable possibility! I think most moms really do struggle with finding just the right match between themselves and other moms and their children. The comments to this post are living proof. Good luck! -EW

  14. Is there going to be a screening process for the kids too? Sorry kiddos, but some of you out there in the world need a time out. LOL I love it when I find moms AND kids we all enjoy!!

    Great idea! :)

  15. I would help you, but I'm still figuring what the heck an RSS feed is. BUT--it's a good idea! I like the pediatrician idea, too. Get it going, girl! I'll sign up.

  18. Okay, now that I do not have a baby sitting on my lap, let me properly respond: the thing you are talking about (unfortunately and fortunately) already exists: Meetup.com This is where I found my mommy group and out of that grew my circle of mommy friends.

Meetup is worldwide and when you get to their site, you can search for groups in your area. You can search by location, by keyword, by interest, etc. For example: Studio City, mommies, social, babies, children, stay at home moms, etc. There are groups for pretty much any and every interest out there. Just search under keywords that apply to you.

Once you find a group that you are interested in, you become a member (usually free of charge). Once in the group you can attend play dates, join field trips, etc. In our group we have activities varying from park play dates, trips to the zoo, mom's night out, movie trips, etc.

The events are put on the calendar by the organizers of the group. Provided the group is active enough, you will get to know people in your area, who are at a similar stage in their life very fast.

Let me know if anyone has questions. I am an assistant organizer of my Meetup group (The Valley Moms Social Club in Studio City, CA), so I'd be more than happy to give more info to those who would like it.

Let me know your thoughts and feedback!! Good luck!

  20. I still like the mommy baby harmony with links to groups and doctors. It really is a good idea and I think it would or could be different then meetup as it would match personalities.
