Being Encouraged?

There are people on this planet that have an innate ability to encourage others. Perhaps it’s their way of giving back or their keen sense to recognize when someone needs a boost. Whatever it is, I appreciate it immensely.

The neatest thing about being encouraged is the want to encourage others. Quite simply, it’s contagious.

With so many negative forces within our world today it’s almost odd to have support and positive encouragement. Just think what we could accomplish if we were bombarded with positive encouragement all day.

The world is generally not kind and finding kindness within it is a gift.

So with all the negativity today, I’m wondering if you have an encouragement team in your corner.

Equally are you paying it forward and encouraging others? If not, why not?

  1. positive people are the ONLY thing I surround myself with. There are times when I want to be negative, but these people influence me and show me the positives to that negative :) And yes, I like to think I stay positive for others as well...seeing inspiring people and strong people is what keeps me positive throughout life's ups and downs!

  2. Yes, I have an encouragement team - a few close friends, and even a few bloggy friends.

When I am of good sound and mind, yes - I pay it forward. But for me, it must be sincere. If I am in a low place, I don't pretend all is well. If I am in the right state of mind - absolutely! You are right - it is contagious!

  3. I think I am an encouraging person, and then I have to remind myself to give myself the same encouragement!

  4. It's funny because I can encourage other people all day long but, I suffer with a syndrome of discouraging myself. I've had to work against that for years. My hubby and mom have encouraged me for years to overcome my low confidence in all aspects of my life. It is contagious I agree. And on that note I would like to encourage you by saying that I really enjoy coming to your blog everyday. It's short and sweet and thought provoking. It's one of my faves!

  6. I feel so blessed to have a great support team behind me. I have 3 really great women in my life who I lean on for support - my older sister, my mom, and my best friend Hannah. While my husband is supportive too, I always tend to hash out my problems with them. Women are able to listen in a way that men sometimes aren't. I like to think that we lean on each other - I try to pay it forward as much as I can.

  8. I LOVE this post. I was just thinking about encouragement when I read your post. You are so right - finding encouragement is a gift and likewise, paying it forward. My encouragement team includes my husband, girl friends (I should really say mom friends), my daughter, and business associates. I'm all for encouraging others in their love language.

  9. I love to get and give encouragement. It just makes you feel good...no matter what the cause, if your friend/family member is in need of enouragement, what does it cost you? Nothing but a smile.

  11. I have to say TV that this world can be very cold and hurtful at times. I am not sure if I will ever understand why it has to be as difficult as it is and painful, but I will always try my hardest to be as encouraging as possible so that there will always remain hope. To be kind and encouraging is something we all should make an effort to be in this world. As you said it is contagious! Have a great day!

  17. Negative people and thoughts are draining. I try to not let negativity get me down, but I'm not always successful. I try to be encouraging to those around me, but I myself have trouble encouraging myself. In fact, I'm in a major pickle right now that I am trying to work through. I loved your post though! And just wanted to tell you, your daughter is adorable!

  18. I think the blogosphere offers the best network of encouragement I can think of. I love, love, love receiving comments that are like wind in my sails. I also love "sharing blog love" as Mama Hen puts it in her Nestwork. I recently read a post where the blogger was writing because she was down in the dumps and knew she'd find encouragement if she posted how she felt. I think that's what it's all about in the blogosphere: sometimes you're the one who needs uplifting; and, often, your words, insights or positive energy are what lift someone else up. I love both!
