Joplin

The stories from Joplin, MO tragedy have really struck a cord with me.

Perhaps it’s that my husband is from Missouri.  Perhaps it’s because when I grew up we had some scary tornadoes around our ranch.  Or perhaps these were just everyday people who were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Thinking about those babies who were swept out of their mother’s arms during this storm makes me so so sad.   And I’m reminded just how precious life is.

I guess the only good that comes from these events is the reminder of how grateful we need to be for what we have.

Donations for the people of Joplin can be made here.

  1. I totally agree. I was reading on msnbc how the Duggar family went to help. What made me pause was the oldest son talking about seeing a father cradling his two children in the home depot that was destroyed. They all died.

These are things I just don't understand. So sad.

  2. I too am feeling a heavy heart this week especially for the Hamlin family from OK. Mom huddled in a bathtub with 3 little ones...lost two boys and her and the little girl were in critical condition. Yes, live is precious. Yes, life is a gift to be treasured for however long or short our time here may be. So true. Hugs to you from one grieving soul to another!

  5. I do not have any words my friend. It is so sad and unbelievable what is going on around the world. We have to pray for all those who suffered. As Natalie said, we can't take anything for granted.

  7. This is very sad. I cannot imagine the anguish for those families affected. And to think it can happen to anybody. Life is fragile and precious.

  8. Yes, it's truly sad. However, it does make people (who are at least willing to listen) hear the truth that in this life, none of our material possessions truly count.

  9. Thank you for accepting donations on behalf of Joplin. That is a very kind thing you are doing. Yes, it's been too close to home, again. This years tornadoes have been very scary and my heart goes out to all that have lost anything in the wake of the storms. Take care and hug your adorable daughter, never let go.
