Memories

Everybody needs his memories. They keep the wolf of insignificance from the door.” ~Saul Bellow

Family Fun in La Jolla, CA
Some of us write to capture memories and others take pictures to remember.

Personally I love photos and photo books to help remember all the fun times with family and friends.

Regardless of your preferred method to imprint a memory, it is important to create keepsakes of the lives we live.

What’s the most creative way you’ve captured great moments to be cherished?

  1. I am a photoholic. I take pictures of everything. Sometimes when the kids have big projects and homemade gifts that are just to much to keep, I take a picture before passing it on. My kids are going to have a ton of albums to sort out when my day comes! :)

  2. I love videos and photos too. Scrapbooking them into a memory album is something I look forward to doing. I'm way behind though...Looks like you made some great memories on the beach!

  4. I love printing my blog. That has become my primary and favorite way to preserve our journeys and our story. I actually like to print one for us and now one for Daisy so she will have them as she gets older! So fun!

  5. La Jolla is so beautiful! Shutterfly is great, but just the act of blogging has created a one of a kind keepsake of my life and my family!

  6. Ah, La Jolla! The only place in the world I have ever kyacked. I take photos like a nutcase, and I blog the stories of our life and then once a year I create a shutterfly memory book, I give each month two pages and I journal a bit in there too. Then, I give them to the grandparents for Xmas. It's a great way to look back at a year!

We just got back from Atlanta...not nearly as picturesque as La Jolla but still a great time!

  7. I love capturing the moments through pictures, but writing my blog and printing it has been a wonderful way to pass on these amazing memories to my daughter. I also like to make photo books! Beautiful picture TV!

  8. I love La Jolla. My husband and I went there before we were married in 2006. What memories! I think starting my blog has been the most creative thing I ever did; although, I have to admit that since I've been keeping my blog, I've gotten quite behind in our photo albums... I definitely need to get started on those again soon. I love your family picture!

  9. Scrapbooks!!! I just don't take the time to do them anymore. Currently, I'm collecting business cards and ticket stubs of all places and things, M and I are doing together to make into a coffee table (yes, that sounds strange). Hopefully it'll be a great way to keepsake all of our memories together!

  10. I use scrapbooks as my photo albums! A little bit more time consuming, but fun to look at.

My husband some times complains that I spend too much time archiving vacations than just embracing the moment, but I think that by "archiving," I can actually embrace the moment and the memories!

  13. I've just recently gotten into scrapbooking. I've never considered myself a scrapbooking mom and I still don't think I am. However I admit I had fun making one to document my son's 1st year. He's now 4. Late bloomer huh? :-)

  14. Reading this and all the comments make me feel so guilty!! : ) I am horrible at all of these except blogging and that is more for my own sanity than a keepsake for my son. I am going to make it a personal goal to get better at taking pictures and scrapbooking (which I have a room full of stuff!) Thanks for giving me a much needed kick in the memory keeping direction!!! : )
