Good thinking points again...as always! P.S. I'm giving you an award today on Catharsis.
Yes, I'm happy with my busy schedule! I like being busy and running around like a chicken with my head cut off, but I also know my limits and when to say no, and take a step back! Busy keeps me challenged and stimulated :)
I will say the one thing that drives me crazy is when people are like "I'm so busy I don't have time for anything" and almost like they act like their life is more important that yours because they are soooo busy. As you said, we choose to be this way. If someone chooses to be this way, then they should also know how to handle it.
busy is like saying i have errands to run, as non specific as possible. some people think that's cool.i like keeping busy, but sometimes that means too busy. you and natalie are right, we chose to be this way if we are.
No...I hate being busy. I try to simplify as much as possible. Unfortunately, I'm not very good at simplifying. I am getting better at saying "NO" though. I said NO to a volunteer request, a soccer scheduling snack Mom request, and a party. I need to keep practicing on the NO. I felt guilty as hell...but I realized I just can't do it all.
Ah, this was my New Year's Resolution...to slow down, and unbusy myself with the things that don't matter. I've been mildly successful. I have said "no" to engagements that would involve a bigger time committment than I can afford. I like to be busy when it involves family activies and making memories, but I don't need to be busy in other areas of life that are less important.
I think people are so busy that they do not take the time as often as they should to see what is truly important. I know someone who just never calls back because they are "so busy". Not cool! I feel that the people who are really important in our lives should be first and foremost. My Dad was one of the busiest people I have ever met. however, his family always came first. When he passed away they had to keep the funeral home open a few extra hours because of the amount of people lined up out the door. They all said to my mom that they has just spoken with my Dad. He was truly amazing. Having lost my Dad I realize how important it is to put the time into what truly matters. That does not mean that I do not get busy or caught up in the stress of getting things done. My cleaning the house always goes to the back of my priorit list when it comes to spending time with my daughter. I hope you are doing well my friend! Have a great day TV!Mama Hen
I was JUST thinking about how much I hate it when people say "there are just not enough hours in the day". Because I've said it before. And it turns out that I just wasted the majority of them killing time and I was only as busy I was choosing to be!
Sometimes I'm a little overwhelmed by my schedule, but to be honest, I enjoy taking on lots of projects and having lots of things to do.My husband always says - we are all busy. Some of us just get more done than others :)
Oh how I've missed reading your blog!!!! But I'm back with a vengeance! : ) You are so right and it has taken me until recently to figure this out! I would blame everyone and everything around me as if it was their fault that I couldn't say no for fear of disappointing someone. Once again, thank you for posting exactly what I need, when I need it! It's good to be back! : )
Its like a competition, I swear! The "I'm so busy" conversations drive me nuts, I can't even listen to them. I try to tune it out cuz I know I'll just scream "we are ALL busy! now knock it off!" lol!
Thanks for stopping by - it's appreciated!
