Do You Believe?

As I glanced through all the holiday cards on Shutterfly I saw lots of BELIEVE statements.

For many believe means to have faith or to believe in the magic of the Christmas season.

Unfortunately, so few of us are reminded to BELIEVE in ourselves.
We don’t always believe we can do it, pursue it or live up to it.

My question - why don’t more of us believe in ourselves?

  1. Fear. Damned fear keeps us down. We have to consciously push ourselves past that fear in order to keep believing in ourselves.

  2. Wow, this is a great question! We need to start believing in ourselves. It reminds me of the line in Pretty Woman when Julia Roberts says "Somehow the bad stuff is easier to believe." I think I have referenced this here before. We have a way of holding ourselves back because we do not think we can do something or it seems to hard. As we get older and have more responsibilities we can say that we have no more time to believe in something or strive for something. I think this is a great time of the year to figure out what we believe in and what we most want in our lives. We then must simply say "I believe". I hope you are doing well. Have a great day!

  3. Believing in myself is a constant battle I have. I "know" I am capable of so much yet I allow myself to doubt and listen to the naysayers and then the fear of failure sets in. I feel like I have much more belief in myself then I used to but I am still no where near where I would like to be. Happy Hump day! Hope your week has been a great one!

  4. I totally have belief in others but it is SO tough for me to believe in myself...not sure why, either. I know that I am capable and that I can succeed if I put my mind to it. Maybe lack of self confidence for so long in my life? Hmm, I'll have to think about this one but I know I struggle with this one TOO MUCH :(

  5. That's a good question! I think some don't believe in themselves because no one ever really, REALLY believed in them.

  6. Self esteem is so darn fragile. People are afraid to believe. They don't want to disappoint themselves or others. Very tricky thing.
